Summer Solstice Ceremony 2026

Summer solstice marks the longest day in the astrological calendar in the northern hemisphere and, this year, falls on Sunday, June 21st at 2:24am. That's something to celebrate! Solstice has been a time of celebration throughout the millennia. The summer solstice is an opportunity to acknowledge the power of the sun and the abundance that surrounds us. It is a time of new beginnings and manifestation. At the solstice, we are invited to look inward - to bring and express gratitude for all that we have, to nourish ourselves, and to let go of what no longer serve us. We are encouraged to continue to open up to personal growth and a deeper understanding of who we truly are.

This year, mark the summer solstice with ceremony! Join me and Sherry Holmes, my friend and shamanic practitioner, on Saturday, June 20th in the beautiful Alberta foothills to celebrate this powerful energetic threshold. Our ceremony will begin at 3pm when we welcome you into sacred space. You will be led in a somatic exercise and meditation to connect you more deeply to yourself, your gratitude, the energy of abundance, and to what you are intending to manifest in the months that follow. Together, we will be making a despacho - a prayer bundle representing our lives and journeys. The focus of our despacho is gratitude, honoring and bringing balance to where we are and where we want to be. Following ceremony, we will share in a potluck feast. This event will be approximately 4 to 4.5 hours.

This is an outdoor ceremony that will proceed rain or shine! The majority of the ceremony will be around an open fire. If it rains, we have access to an unheated shelter. Preparing for diverse Southern Alberta weather is required. Participants will have access to an outhouse with a hand-washing station and hand-sanitizer.

Directions and a Google Maps pin to our location will be sent to you 3 days before the ceremony. The location is approximately 30 km (about 30 minutes) NW of Cochrane and 57 km (about 45 minutes) from my office in Brentwood, NW Calgary - the last mile is on a gravel road. I invite you to share in ceremony and come together in community. Spaces are limited - register early to avoid disappointment. Please note that registration will close June 17th.
